NRA Basic Pistol Class

In this course students will learn the fundamentals of a pistol (handgun). Students will learn grip, aiming, malfunctions (and clearing), cleaning, and round it out by putting all those learned skills to use at the range.

The basic pistol course is perfect for:

  • New Owners
  • Anyone building confidence with firearms
  • Perfect course before getting a Texas LTC
  • Ages 13 and up

The basic pistol course teaches:                                                                     

  • Pistol Knowledge (basic parts identification) 
  • Safe Handling
  • Ammunition identification & malfunctions
  • Fundamentals of Shooting
  • Grip
  • Aiming
  • Semi-Automatic & Revolvers
  • Cleaning
  • Practical Demonstration

Each student will have range time and put all these lessons into practice with live-fire shooting of their firearm. Dry-fire, practice shots, malfunction clearing, and qualification shooting. Students can qualify up to NRA Level 4 marksmanship (20 rounds each level), therefore this course allows you to become very familiar with your firearm and shooting it while being supervised by an NRA Certified Instructor. Class can be about 8 hours long.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:

  • Handgun (required) – Any caliber you like. NO Sig P320 allowed
  • 100 total rounds of quality ammo (may need more if planning to max marksmanship level)
  • PPE – Eye/ear protection & Closed toe shoes (required)
  • Ball cap (recommended)
  • No lowcut shirts that may catch hot brass from a neighboring student
  • We have a .22LR SA pistol for qualification use if your handgun is not suited for you
  • A hand towel to place your items on
